Essential Duties
- Set up and run the Jacketing extrusion for different products types and customer specifications.
- Understand instructions for handling packets with rejects and document deviations.
- Reprocess nonconforming product.
- Set up and shut down the jet printer for the jacketing extrusion.
- Ensure proper handling of short footage's for the jacketing extrusion.
- Understand procedures for handling Corrective and Preventive Actions.
- Work closely with the Quality Assurance department to ensure product meets specifications.
- Maintain the shelf life of marking inks/thinners and follow procedures for proper identification.
- Calibrate and maintain Target System optical measuring devices.
- Clean and maintain all tooling associated with the Jacket line equipment.
- Keep work area clean and organized.
- Recommend process improvements.
- Work as a team with other Jacket Operators and other Dekoron employees.
- Communicate with supervisors, peers, or subordinates by telephone, in written form, email, or in person.
Knowledge and Skills
- Monitoring – watch gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
- Equipment selection – determine the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
- Control Precision – adjust controls of the machine to exact positions.
- Communication – understand and follow written and oral instructions.
- Getting information – observe, receive, and otherwise obtain information from all relevant sources.
- Cognitive thinking – problem solving, prioritizing activities, allocate resources, maintain an adequate supply of materials, make sound decisions, and recommend solutions in troubleshooting and repairing in a timely and effective manner.
- Ability to make quick decisive decisions concerning product and machine adjustments needed to ensure product quality.
- Evaluating Information to determine compliance with standards – using relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards.
- Identifying Objects, Actions, and Events – identify information by categorizing, estimating, recognizing differences or similarities, and detecting changes in circumstances or events.
Education and Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent, required.
- Technical training, preferred.
- Experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting with responsibilities in the area of extrusion is preferred, but not required.
