IUOE Preventive Maintenance Mech A

Responsibilities

• Maintains building mechanical systems by inspection, performing prescribed maintenance tasks and reporting abnormal conditions.
• TYPICAL DUTIES:
• In accordance with departmental safety standards:
• Performs all required inspections of building mechanical equipment and components, ensuring that equipment is in safe and efficient operating condition.
• Tests static and dynamic balance and vibration, current draw and temperatures; tests for leaks.
• Reports abnormal conditions for further action.
• Replaces and aligns belts and couplers, replaces pulleys. Makes minor adjustments, including tightening nuts, bolts and screws.
• Lubricates equipment and components. Cleans and replaces filters.
• Cleans and paints equipment and components and mechanical areas; seals mechanical area floors.
• Keeps records and makes reports of maintenance performed, condition of equipment, repairs needed, materials used and the like.

Qualifications

• High School education plus 3-5 years experience as a general maintenance mechanic or 2-3 years experience as a mechanic, preventive maintenance mechanic; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Environmental Protection Agency Refrigerant Certification required
