Responsibilities
- Repairs and maintains buildings and most utility systems and equipment.
- Performs a variety of services and skills, including repairing and maintaining mechanical equipment, machines and facilities.
- Receives and answers service requests and trouble calls.
- Maintains cleanliness of work area and insures that tools and equipment are kept in good working order.
- Keeps records and makes reports of daily work.
- Compiles with safety regulations of the University and of local, state and federal agencies.
- Works from blueprints, sketches, wiring diagrams, and from verbal instructions.
- May coordinate the efforts of lower classified trades personnel or students.
- May construct temporary partitions.
- Maintains heating systems and balances systems using controls and valves.
- May repair certain electrical and plumbing lines, and most types of fixtures and equipment.
- Repairs or replaces certain components of buildings such as tile, doors, walls, windows, stairs, roofs, woodwork, and cabinets.
Qualifications
- High school diploma plus 2-4 years experience in a mechanical/building trades or related environment to provide the necessary experience to perform the above tasks.
- Ability to read and write English and make mathematical calculations.
- Depends upon functional area, may require a valid motor vehicle operator's license and the ability to operate vehicles in a troublefree, safe, and skillful manner.
