About the role
The IT Technical Support Manager oversees and is responsible for the overall programmatic Information Technology needs for the Savannah River Ecology Lab.
Responsibilities
- Maintain the efficient operation of the SREL computer network, including monitoring connections with campus and outlying buildings.
- Manage, troubleshoot, and repair hardware such as switches, routers, and wireless access points.
- Effectively handle employee software issues by communicating problems and solutions with faculty and staff.
- Evaluate and approve IT hardware purchases, ensuring all requested devices meet compliance and network eligibility standards. Successfully integrate approved devices while mitigating network vulnerabilities.
- Order and deploy IT hardware as required by SREL employees.
- Independently maintain, troubleshoot, and repair conference center hardware, AV equipment, and shared printers.
- Provide direction to one part-time employee regarding IT needs and repairs.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent and 5 years of professional experience.
- Bachelor’s degree or 4 years of equivalent experience preferred.
Qualifications
- Effective communication skills with various levels of SREL employees.
- Good decision-making skills to facilitate the operation of SREL.
- High-level IT-related skills to meet the technology demands of the Lab.
Physical Demands
Ability to lift 25 pounds and sit or stand for prolonged periods of time.
