About the Opportunity
The IT Team Lead role involves guiding a diverse, multi-disciplinary team responsible for developing, deploying, and supporting innovative GIS data solutions for federal clients. This position ensures the successful execution and delivery of a high-profile IT infrastructure modernization project by coordinating key government stakeholders, resolving technical blockers, and maintaining steady project momentum. Operating as a pivotal operational guide, this role is critical for aligning complex technical objectives with shifting federal priorities and delivering impactful, highly secure software results.
Responsibilities
- Manage the full lifecycle of a massive IT modernization project from initial discovery and resource planning through to production deployment and maintenance
- Facilitate high-stakes weekly sprint reviews and status meetings with senior Federal staff to communicate project velocity and milestones
- Develop, nurture, and maintain highly collaborative relationships with federal stakeholders to secure long-term buy-in for ongoing modernization initiatives
- Resolve operational obstacles proactively and coordinate cross-functional data engineering and GIS teams around shared milestones
- Establish and continuously maintain a strategic technical roadmap for cloud migration and database modernization efforts
- Manage comprehensive project schedules, cross-team resource allocations, risk registers, priority matrices, and day-to-day agile activities
- Prepare, review, and deliver executive status updates, key performance indicators (KPIs), and supporting monthly contract deliverables
- Oversee, mentor, and foster professional development for technical team members and junior project staff as required
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship Requirement: Must be a United States citizen
- Security Clearance: Ability to successfully undergo, obtain, and maintain a federal Public Trust clearance position of trust
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressive, professional experience directly managing complex IT projects, digital transformations, or software development initiatives
- Demonstrated experience leading technical and strategic teams within the domains of data science, advanced analytics, geospatial intelligence, or large-scale data management
- Prominent proficiency navigating diverse project management methodologies, including Agile, Scrum, Kanban, and hybrid Waterfall frameworks
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a natural capability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business logic for non-technical audiences
- Advanced leadership, structured team management, presentation delivery, and conflict resolution skills
- Comprehensive understanding of the end-to-end Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and secure coding deployment pipelines
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) credentials preferred
- Prior professional experience working directly within federal consulting environments or managing municipal/federal GIS software portfolios preferred
- Hands-on familiarity with cloud data platforms (such as AWS GovCloud or Azure Government) and modern data warehousing principles preferred
Pay Range and Compensation Package
The target baseline salary framework is $90,000.00 to $100,000.00 USD annually. Final base salary placement within this tier is calibrated dynamically based upon the candidate's core federal IT consulting background, data system management depth, and related technical certifications.
