About the role

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Manager Cyber Systems Engineering 1 to lead a team of highly skilled technical professionals supporting cutting-edge defense and security systems. This role combines hands-on technical leadership with functional people management, contributing directly to mission-critical programs while developing and supporting engineering talent.

Responsibilities

  • Support staffing strategy and requisition planning in collaboration with hiring teams.
  • Conduct candidate selection, conduct interviews, and approve hiring decisions.
  • Manage career development, goal-setting, performance reviews, and merit planning for direct reports.
  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and discipline when needed, to support team growth and performance.
  • Facilitate access to tools, hardware, and resources needed for employee success.
  • Deliver regular organizational updates and represent leadership across programs and teams.
  • Lead engineering teams in the design, integration, and maintenance of enterprise-level cyber systems.
  • Drive technical execution using best practices in secure development, automation, and network design.
  • Contribute to DevOps strategy and process improvement initiatives across environments.
  • Maintain critical external customer contact to understand their technical needs.
  • Manage Cost Account Management (CAM) and Risk Management activities, where applicable.
  • Collaborate with peers and leadership to ensure optimized resource allocation and mission alignment.
  • Support deployment pipelines using the Atlassian suite and other CI/CD toolsets.
  • Drive automation and improve system efficiency through scripting and scheduling tools.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree with 4 years of experience, or 10 years of progressive related experience.
  • 1+ year of experience leading technical projects or teams with schedule accountability.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a government TS/SCI clearance is required.
  • Demonstrated experience with enterprise architectures including Windows Server, RHEL, virtualization, and storage technologies.
  • Working knowledge of containerization, automation, and Software Defined Networking (SDN).
  • Hands-on experience with networking technologies from vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, F5, and Ciena.
  • Ability to create and interpret network architecture and configuration diagrams using commercial tools.

Qualifications

Skills

  • Prior success in recruiting and developing engineering teams.
  • Broad technical background across IT/OT, software development, CI/CD, Containerization, and Cyber Security.
  • Proven ability to represent organizational capabilities to customers and stakeholders.
  • Experience with U.S. Government contracts or defense systems.
  • Advanced degree (M.S., M.B.A., or related).
  • Active Top Secret clearance strongly preferred.

Pay

Annual salary range: $114,900.00 - $172,300.00
