Primary Duties And Responsibilities
- Provide Tier III support for escalated infrastructure and platform issues
- Administer and support on-premises and Azure-hosted systems
- Operate and maintain Windows and Linux server environments
- Manage identity, access, and security integrations across infrastructure platforms
- Support physical, virtual, and cloud-based servers and applications
- Ensure adherence to IT Change Management, security, and compliance policies
- Operate, maintain, and support production Kubernetes clusters and the underlying Linux-based systems supporting containerized workloads
- Monitor platform health, performance, capacity, availability, and cost efficiency across Kubernetes, Linux, and Azure environments
- Troubleshoot complex, cross-layer issues involving containers, nodes, networking, storage, identity, and security integrations
- Manage Azure infrastructure supporting cloud-native platforms, including compute, networking, identity, storage, and security components
- Implement platform hardening, patching, lifecycle management, and resiliency best practices
- Support secure service-to-service communication and role-based access control (RBAC) models
- Implement and maintain security hardening across servers and platforms
- Support vulnerability remediation and audit activities in coordination with Information Security
- Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and remediation efforts
- Ensure platforms are operated in a manner consistent with regulatory and audit expectations
- Aid in the design and implementation of highly available and resilient architectures
- Support infrastructure-as-code, automation, and operational tooling where applicable
- Maintain accurate operational documentation, runbooks, and architectural diagrams
- Serve as a backup resource for senior platform engineering staff, including Kubernetes and Linux subject matter experts
- Reduce key-person dependency through knowledge transfer and documentation
- Mentor and support Tier I and Tier II infrastructure staff
- Lead or contribute to infrastructure projects from planning through execution
Education And Experience
- High School diploma or GED required
- Bachelor’s degree in IT or Computer Science preferred
- 7+ years of systems administration or infrastructure engineering experience
- Relevant certifications preferred (Azure, Linux, Kubernetes, or security-focused)
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Advanced troubleshooting skills across infrastructure and platform layers
- Strong knowledge and skills in administering Linux-based systems
- Hands-on knowledge in supporting Kubernetes and container-based platforms in production environments
- Expertise in Microsoft Azure
- Ability to monitor, log, and conduct performance analysis along with incident response and root cause analysis
- Strong skills in scripting and automation (PowerShell, Bash, or similar)
- Comprehensive understanding of infrastructure documentation and architectural diagramming
- Comprehensive understanding of security practices, including Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) and access management
- Familiarity with cloud-native security practices is preferred
- Proficiency in supporting production data platforms and pipelines is preferred
- Ability to reduce reliance on third-party tooling through the development and use of internal platforms is preferred
- Familiarity working in regulated or audited environments is preferred
