About the role
The IT Systems Administrator plays a crucial role in implementing and maintaining server and compute systems. They are responsible for troubleshooting issues, monitoring performance, and ensuring disaster recovery plans are in place.
Responsibilities
- Provides workstation hardware support including repairs, enhancements, and new installations and additions of PC hardware and peripherals.
- Plans, implements, and tests server and compute system solutions, including disaster recovery.
- Maintains documentation on systems.
- Schedules and monitors routine backups of server and compute systems.
- Secures server and compute systems by monitoring, controlling, and evaluating system.
- Troubleshoots server and compute systems problems.
- Makes upgrades to server and compute systems hardware by evaluating, testing, and installing enhancements/updates.
- Ensures documentation is current.
- Implements, secures, backs up, maintains, and documents networking related systems as assigned.
- Interacts with approved vendors to acquire and manage server and compute system resources.
- Maintains hardware and software inventory databases, ensures proper licensing and usage.
- Meets financial requirements by submitting information for budgets and monitoring expenses.
Requirements
- Licenses/Certificates: Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- Attendance: Regularly scheduled attendance required.
- Physical: Routinely lifts up to 50 lbs.; reads small print; repetitive motion; tolerates working in confined spaces and heights above four feet; tolerates standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing and sitting.
- Environmental: Tolerates working in extreme temperatures and noisy environments.
Qualifications
- High School graduate or equivalent required.
- Associates degree in computer related field preferred.
- Minimum four years Information Technology experience, specifically servers, Networking and MS Windows and Office required.
- Scripting and automation experience preferred.
- Technical certifications preferred (i.e. Microsoft, Cisco, etc.).
- Proficiency with a variety of PC and Network Hardware, MS Server and a variety of software.
Skills
