About the role

The IT Systems Administrator plays a crucial role in implementing and maintaining server and compute systems. They are responsible for troubleshooting issues, monitoring performance, and ensuring disaster recovery plans are in place.

Responsibilities

  • Provides workstation hardware support including repairs, enhancements, and new installations and additions of PC hardware and peripherals.
  • Plans, implements, and tests server and compute system solutions, including disaster recovery.
  • Maintains documentation on systems.
  • Schedules and monitors routine backups of server and compute systems.
  • Secures server and compute systems by monitoring, controlling, and evaluating system.
  • Troubleshoots server and compute systems problems.
  • Makes upgrades to server and compute systems hardware by evaluating, testing, and installing enhancements/updates.
  • Ensures documentation is current.
  • Implements, secures, backs up, maintains, and documents networking related systems as assigned.
  • Interacts with approved vendors to acquire and manage server and compute system resources.
  • Maintains hardware and software inventory databases, ensures proper licensing and usage.
  • Meets financial requirements by submitting information for budgets and monitoring expenses.

Requirements

  • Licenses/Certificates: Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Attendance: Regularly scheduled attendance required.
  • Physical: Routinely lifts up to 50 lbs.; reads small print; repetitive motion; tolerates working in confined spaces and heights above four feet; tolerates standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing and sitting.
  • Environmental: Tolerates working in extreme temperatures and noisy environments.

Qualifications

  • High School graduate or equivalent required.
  • Associates degree in computer related field preferred.
  • Minimum four years Information Technology experience, specifically servers, Networking and MS Windows and Office required.
  • Scripting and automation experience preferred.
  • Technical certifications preferred (i.e. Microsoft, Cisco, etc.).
  • Proficiency with a variety of PC and Network Hardware, MS Server and a variety of software.
