About the role
Burcham Hills is an upscale senior living retirement community located in East Lansing, MI. We are currently seeking an IT System Administrator to join our team.
Responsibilities
- Administer Windows Server operating systems and Active Directory services.
- Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot desktop and laptop computers.
- Server lifecycle management.
- DNZ zone management.
- Deploy and maintain Windows and macOS devices.
- Manage endpoint security platforms including Sophos Central.
- Encryption management (Bitlocker/FileVault).
- Utilize Automox for operating system and third-party application patch management.
- Troubleshoot LAN/WAN connectivity issues.
- Create, modify, and disable user accounts.
- Manage Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID.
- Maintain role-based access controls.
- Support secure onboarding and offboarding processes.
- Implement cybersecurity best practices.
- Apply security patches.
- Respond to security incidents.
- Monitor backup jobs.
- Verify successful backups.
- Perform file and system restorations.
- Monitor infrastructure availability.
- Identify performance issues.
- Perform preventative maintenance.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience in IT support or systems administration is required.
Qualifications
- Equivalent professional experience and/or industry certifications are accepted.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server operating systems and Active Directory services.
- Experience with server lifecycle management.
- Proficiency in network administration, including Cisco Meraki switching, wireless, firewalls, and VPN infrastructure.
- Knowledge of endpoint management, including deployment and maintenance of Windows and macOS devices.
- Experience with endpoint security platforms such as Sophos Central.
- Understanding of encryption management, including Bitlocker and FileVault.
- Experience with operating system and third-party application patch management using tools like Automox.
- Ability to troubleshoot LAN/WAN connectivity issues.
- Experience with identity and access management, including Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID.
- Knowledge of Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).
- Experience with cybersecurity best practices and incident response.
- Experience with backup and disaster recovery procedures.
- Experience with system monitoring and preventative maintenance.
