About the role

Burcham Hills is an upscale senior living retirement community located in East Lansing, MI. We are currently seeking an IT System Administrator to join our team.

Responsibilities

  • Administer Windows Server operating systems and Active Directory services.
  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot desktop and laptop computers.
  • Server lifecycle management.
  • DNZ zone management.
  • Deploy and maintain Windows and macOS devices.
  • Manage endpoint security platforms including Sophos Central.
  • Encryption management (Bitlocker/FileVault).
  • Utilize Automox for operating system and third-party application patch management.
  • Troubleshoot LAN/WAN connectivity issues.
  • Create, modify, and disable user accounts.
  • Manage Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID.
  • Maintain role-based access controls.
  • Support secure onboarding and offboarding processes.
  • Implement cybersecurity best practices.
  • Apply security patches.
  • Respond to security incidents.
  • Monitor backup jobs.
  • Verify successful backups.
  • Perform file and system restorations.
  • Monitor infrastructure availability.
  • Identify performance issues.
  • Perform preventative maintenance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience in IT support or systems administration is required.

Qualifications

  • Equivalent professional experience and/or industry certifications are accepted.

Skills

  • Experience with Windows Server operating systems and Active Directory services.
  • Hands-on experience with desktop and laptop computers.
  • Knowledge of server lifecycle management.
  • Experience with Cisco Meraki switching, wireless, firewalls, and VPN infrastructure.
  • Experience with endpoint security platforms such as Sophos Central.
  • Experience with Bitlocker and FileVault encryption management.
  • Experience with operating system and third-party application patch management using tools like Automox.
  • Experience with troubleshooting LAN/WAN connectivity issues.
  • Experience with creating, modifying, and disabling user accounts in Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID.
  • Experience with implementing and responding to cybersecurity best practices.
  • Experience with monitoring infrastructure availability, identifying performance issues, and performing preventative maintenance.
