IT Specialist - Common Operational Picture Manager

About the role

The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) seeks an Information Technology (IT) Specialist, GS-2210-12, to serve as the Common Operational Picture (COP) Manager at Headquarters NORAD/USNORTHCOM (N&NC) on Peterson Space Force Base (SFB) in Colorado Springs, CO.

Responsibilities

• Provide COP and Geospatial/Geographic Information Systems (GIS) management to enhance decision-making capabilities within the USNORTHCOM area of responsibility.
• Ensure compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) and Joint policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Use Situational Awareness Geospatial Enterprise (SAGE), network systems, and COP-related computer network systems to maintain proper functionality.
• Utilize Windows and ESRI-based operating systems to manage IT equipment and systems.
• Evaluate and implement system enhancements based on performance characteristics and custom approaches.
• Apply knowledge of command-and-control operations and strategic event analysis to support decision-making processes.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship
• Top Secret/SCI security clearance
• Information Assurance Management, Level II certification within 6 months of assigned duties
• Foundation and resident qualification requirements for work roles at assigned proficiency levels
• Pass drug test
• Not eligible for Ready Reserve service

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Joint policies and procedures
• Understanding of national intelligence organizations and state/federal emergency organizations
• Skills in using SAGE, network systems, and COP-related software
• Ability to analyze requirements and implement system enhancements
• Experience with Windows and ESRI-based operating systems
