About the role
The IT Specialist will be responsible for installing and maintaining local area network hardware and software, evaluating hardware and software requirements, coordinating installations, providing user support, and maintaining network stability.
Responsibilities
- Installs and maintains local area network hardware and software including servers, peripherals, network nodes, terminals, and wiring.
- Evaluates local area network hardware and software requirements and capabilities and makes recommendations; handles related site-specific needs as required.
- Captures and maintains documentation of network configurations and cabling layouts.
- Coordinates installation of hardware and software by others; coordinates third-party maintenance for network hardware, software, and telecommunications services.
- Supports and trains users in local area network administration and usage of company email, conference bridge, cell phone setup, and standard PC utilization.
- Maintains network stability.
- Communicates and coordinates network schedule, backups, and downtime to users.
- Coordinates third-party maintenance for network hardware, software, and telecommunications services.
- Provides a variety of technical and administrative systems support to users, including servers, desktop computers and laptops, document centers, printers, routers, switches, firewalls, security updates, and patches.
Requirements
- At least five (5) years providing technical and direct support as IT Helpdesk Tier-II/III.
- At least five (5) years of experience with management of IT systems infrastructure and related processes.
- At least five (5) years of experience with JWICS network including account creation, workstation and server installation, server maintenance, network equipment maintenance and troubleshooting of network issues and JWICS outages.
- At least five (5) years of experience with DISA, NSA, ONI HOPPER, Special Access Program services and support processes.
- At least five (5) years of experience with NMCI refresh and system upgrades, account requests and move/add/change (MAC) requests.
- At least three (3) years of experience conducting IT training for personnel.
- At least three (3) years’ experience with JWICS-DVTC (Tandberg) technical and administrative.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in logistics, facilities, management, engineering, information systems, computer science, mathematics, physics or other related scientific or technical discipline from an accredited University.
- 3+ years of experience with Government/DOD/Navy contract/task management.
Skills
- CISSP or Security + Certification.

Pay
VTG’s estimated starting pay range is $90,000-110,000, which is a general guideline for the geographic location. When extending an offer, VTG also considers work experience, education, skill level, market considerations and may possibly include contractual requirements which may cause an offer to fall outside of this range.
