IT Specialist
Position Overview
The IT Specialist is the first point of contact and will provide technical assistance, maintenance and repair to computer systems and hardware and network problem resolution to all Singing River Health System customers. The IT Specialist will guide users through step-by-step solutions, answer questions or resolve computer issues for users in person, via telephone or from a remote location and email or trouble request enquiries; and resolves or escalates system issues and problems. This includes installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all hardware and software while ensuring optimal performance. The IT Specialist will troubleshoot problem areas in a timely and accurate manner and provide assistance where required, and utilize tools and following procedures or policies for handling support requests.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical assistance, maintenance and repair to computer systems and hardware and network problem resolution
- Guide users through step-by-step solutions
- Answer questions or resolve computer issues for users in person, via telephone or from a remote location and email or trouble request enquiries
- Resolve or escalate system issues and problems
- Install, diagnose, repair, maintain, and upgrade all hardware and software while ensuring optimal performance
- Troubleshoot problem areas in a timely and accurate manner and provide assistance where required
- Utilize tools and follow procedures or policies for handling support requests
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Associate's degree in a computer related field is preferred
- Minimum of two (2) years' experience providing end user online/phone support with PC hardware, troubleshooting and repair
Skills
- Superior customer service skills and professional etiquette
- Proficient knowledge and ability to use a computer (must be keyboard proficient) and other office technology (i.e., telephone, fax, etc.), MS Outlook and Word
- Ability to demonstrate appropriate clinical judgment and apply appropriate professional skills to a patient population of all ages
- Ability to achieve successful outcomes in handling difficult situations and customers
- Ability to teach customers over the phone
- Knowledge of desktop operating systems, various software applications and basic hardware for the PC
- Knowledge of principles and theories of network systems and management
- Knowledge of internet technologies and products
- Knowledge of basic methods/tools used to troubleshoot information processing system problems
- Keen mental faculties/assessment and decision making abilities
- Superior communication/speaking/enunciation skills to receive and give information in person and by telephone
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Emotional stability conducive to dealing with high stress levels
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task in complex situations
- Ability to maintain collaborative and respectable working relationships throughout SRHS and other organizations
