About the role

An IT Solutions Architect position is available with the City of Fort Worth IT Solutions' Public Safety division. This Architect position will have strategic, architectural, and cross departmental decision authority, serving as the technical gatekeeper for public safety systems. This ensures that the complex, expanding, and mission critical environment of Fort Worth's emergency services is supported by sound, forward thinking technology decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Define, plan, and design enterprise-wide technical solutions: Develop innovative architecture for complex public-safety technologies—including CAD, RMS, EMS integrations, and 911 systems
  • Establish and govern architecture standards: Lead efforts to define, document, and enforce technology architecture standards across all public safety systems, ensuring consistency, scalability, and compliance with best practices
  • Provide cross discipline technical direction and mentorship by offering expert guidance across multiple technical domains, actively training and developing staff on complex public safety architecture, and translating specialized CAD/RMS/EMS knowledge into repeatable practices that strengthen team capability, reduce single points of failure, and increase overall operational effectiveness
  • Research emerging technologies and recommend improvements
  • Serve as a technical subject matter expert in project planning: Participate in planning efforts to ensure new CAD, RMS, EMS, and 911 solutions
  • Manage third‑party applications and integrations: Oversee vendor‑provided platforms affecting CAD, RMS, EMS, and 911 environments
  • Ensure compliance with City policies and standards

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in computer science, management information systems, business or a related field
  • Five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in an applicable field
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Candidate selected for hire must pass a CJIS background check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience architecting and administering public-safety technologies in a large multi-agency environment. Preferably has experience administering CentralSquare CAD at a highly technical level
  • Demonstrated experience configuring and managing APIs to integrate third-party or add-on software solutions with Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD)
  • Experience collaborating with Fire, Police, IT Solutions, and Emergency Medical Services to ensure CAD/RMS and EMS workflows align with operational needs

Pay

$52.34/hr. - $68.04/hr. | $108,870 - $141,530 annual compensation

Schedule

FLSA Exempt position. Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm; some evening/weekend work required. Hybrid on-site work model available with supervisory approval; staff are required to be on-site at least 2 days per week.
