About the role
D.R. Horton, Inc., the largest homebuilder in the U.S., is seeking an IT Shipping/Receiving Clerk to manage the daily receipt, shipment, tracking, storage, and return of equipment for the IT Department.
Responsibilities
- Receive all shipments ordered by the IT Procurement Group.
- Unpack and examine incoming shipments, reject damaged items, record shortages, and correspond with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
- Route items to departments.
- Determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules.
- Ship equipment orders from the corporate office to divisions located across the country.
- Schedule orders and ensure accuracy of packaging equipment.
- Ensure accuracy of duties and documentation involved with both Shipping and Receiving functions (Inbound/Outbound freight).
- Determine method of shipment.
- Assign inventoried hardware to divisions/users.
- Prioritize workload in ticketing system to ensure Service Level Agreement (SLA’s) and customer needs are met.
- Work with other employees and departments to resolve shipping and receiving matters.
- Follow all safety guidelines and promote a safe working environment.
- Coordinate with shipping companies, the postal service, and other departments as needed.
- Perform physical inventory counts on a quarterly basis; verify counts.
- Conduct all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company.
- Ability to work overtime.
Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- One to three months related experience and/or training.
- Good understanding of basic/fundamental warehouse shipping and receiving procedures.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks and work independently.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to perform within a changing workload and/or priorities and meet order schedules with quality results.
- Ability to collaborate and work well within a team environment.
- Ability to use standard warehouse equipment such as, but not limited to, hand truck, cart, or pallet.
- Proficiency with MS Office and email.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in JD Edwards and a ticketing system.
- Strong communication skills.
