About the role

D.R. Horton, Inc., the largest homebuilder in the U.S., is seeking an IT Shipping/Receiving Clerk to manage the daily receipt, shipment, tracking, storage, and return of equipment for the IT Department.

Responsibilities

  • Receive all shipments ordered by the IT Procurement Group.
  • Unpack and examine incoming shipments, reject damaged items, record shortages, and correspond with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
  • Route items to departments.
  • Determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules.
  • Ship equipment orders from the corporate office to divisions located across the country.
  • Schedule orders and ensure accuracy of packaging equipment.
  • Ensure accuracy of duties and documentation involved with both Shipping and Receiving functions (Inbound/Outbound freight).
  • Determine method of shipment.
  • Assign inventoried hardware to divisions/users.
  • Prioritize workload in ticketing system to ensure Service Level Agreement (SLA’s) and customer needs are met.
  • Work with other employees and departments to resolve shipping and receiving matters.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and promote a safe working environment.
  • Coordinate with shipping companies, the postal service, and other departments as needed.
  • Perform physical inventory counts on a quarterly basis; verify counts.
  • Conduct all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company.
  • Ability to work overtime.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • One to three months related experience and/or training.
  • Good understanding of basic/fundamental warehouse shipping and receiving procedures.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks and work independently.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to perform within a changing workload and/or priorities and meet order schedules with quality results.
  • Ability to collaborate and work well within a team environment.
  • Ability to use standard warehouse equipment such as, but not limited to, hand truck, cart, or pallet.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and email.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in JD Edwards and a ticketing system.
  • Strong communication skills.
