IT Product Manager, Consultant
About the role
The Operations Portfolio team within Blue Shield of California provides robust solutions for our business partners, providers and members which improve the overall health care experience from claims processing to benefit enrollment. IT Product Manager Consultant will report to the Manager, Membership & Support in the Operations Portfolio.
Responsibilities
- Define product and technical vision, roadmap, and growth opportunities for the Commissions platform, aligning SAP S/4HANA/ECC and Informatica deliverables with business goals across Membership, Provider and Claims workflows
- Design and validate commission payout and settlement flows through SAP APMe, ensuring accurate aggregation, posting, and reconciliation of broker commissions
- Work closely with Product, Engineering and Solution Delivery to deliver iterative solutions that provide measurable business value
- Partner with Solution Delivery lead, enterprise architects, Support and Ops to produce solution designs, runbooks and operational support models
- Translate complex commission structures, retroactivity, broker hierarchies, and overrides into clear functional and technical requirements
- Lead performance tuning and scalability engineering for SAP batch jobs and Informatica pipelines; run load and stress tests and optimize pushdown/parallelism
- Drive CI/CD, automated testing and deployment pipelines for SAP transports and Informatica artifacts; implement unit, integration and regression test automation
- Build monitoring, alerting and observability for SAP jobs, ETL pipelines and commission services; define SLAs and incident escalation paths
- Lead incident response, RCA and production fixes for data or calculation failures; coordinate hotfix transport and postmortem actions with stakeholders
- Ensure security, data governance and compliance controls: RBAC in SAP, secure ETL credentials, encryption in transit/at rest, PII/HIPAA controls and audit logging
- Mentor and lead technical teams on SAP and Informatica best practices, code reviews, deployment hygiene and operational readiness
- Communicate technical tradeoffs, risks and mitigation plans to business, finance, compliance and executive stakeholders
Qualifications
- Requires a bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Public Health, or Information Technology. Graduate level degree (e.g. MBA, MS or MA) is highly desirable.
- Requires 8 years of prior relevant enterprise IT experience. Minimum 6 years of experience in Product Management, Management Consulting, or Entrepreneurship required
- Requires hands on experience with SAP, SQL, Oracle, Scripting and Informatica (PowerCenter or Cloud, mappings, workflows, CDC, pushdown optimization, metadata lineage)
- Proven experience designing and delivering integrations, ETL pipelines and reconciliation processes for commissions, billing, claims or payments
- Strong Healthcare or Financial domain experience; preferred experience in enrollment, billing, provider, claims and payment flows
- Strong communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills with ability to influence engineering, operations and business teams
- Experience with CI/CD for SAP and ETL, automated testing frameworks, performance testing and observability tooling
- Practical knowledge of security, compliance and data governance in regulated environments (HIPAA, financial audit controls)
- Preferred: experience with SAP middleware (PI/PO, CPI), cloud data platforms (AWS/Azure), data warehouse/BI tools, and relevant certifications (SAP, Informatica, Agile/Product Owner)

For most teams, this means coming into the office two days each week. Employees living more than 50 miles from an office location will work with their manager to determine in-office time based on business need.
Pay
Pay Range for California: $123090.00 to $184800.00
Pay Range for Bay Area: $138756.00 to $208320.00
