About the role

The IT Manager, TPO Portfolio Project Management serves as the primary owner of Portfolio and Project Management technology products supporting R&D and Supply Chain product development and project activities. This role partners closely with R&D, Quality, Regulatory, Supply Chain, and IT stakeholders to ensure technology investments are aligned to business priorities, regulatory requirements, and product development needs. This position plays a critical role in accelerating innovation, driving visibility, governance, and value realization across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Own the product vision, roadmap, and backlog for the assigned Portfolio and Project Management technology platforms, ensuring cross-functional alignment.

  • Partner with R&D, Supply Chain, and other cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate them into clear user stories and acceptance criteria.

  • Lead prioritization decisions to balance business value, compliance, and delivery timelines.

  • Serve as the primary point of accountability for product performance, lifecycle management, and continuous improvement.

  • Collaborate with development teams to support agile delivery, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and release readiness.

  • Drive continuous improvement of portfolio management processes, tools, and governance models.

  • Monitor product outcomes and KPIs to ensure solutions deliver measurable value to the cross-functional teams.

  • Demonstrate Johnson & Johnson’s Credo and leadership behaviors in all interactions.

  • Lead the application of AI, advanced analytics, and automation to modernize R&D platforms, accelerating product development, improving scientific and engineering insights, and strengthening end-to-end decision-making while enabling scalable, compliant, and efficient R&D operations from discovery through lifecycle management.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required (Information Systems, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field). Master’s degree (MBA or relevant technical discipline) preferred.

  • Required Experience and Skills: 6-8 years of experience in technology, digital product management, or clinical systems, with experience at the manager or senior individual contributor level. Proven experience as a product owner or product manager for enterprise technology solutions. Strong ability to translate business needs into technology requirements. Demonstrated stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills and influence without authority. Experience working in regulated industries (e.g., medical devices, pharmaceuticals, life sciences). Experience working with agile or hybrid delivery methodologies.

  • Preferred Experience: Supporting R&D Product Development technology platforms within a global organization. Familiarity with Agile, SAFe, or hybrid delivery models in an enterprise IT environment. Experience with portfolio and project management tools and financial tracking. Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Ability to influence without authority in a matrixed organization.
