IT Manager

We are seeking for our client a hands-on IT Manager to lead their technology function during a period of significant growth and transformation. This is a player-coach role: you will oversee day-to-day IT operations while serving as the primary project manager for several high-stakes initiatives already underway. Your immediate focus will be the transition to a new ERP system, the complete IT build-out of the new Huntersville facility, and a cloud migration in partnership with external providers. Beyond these projects, you will build and scale an internal IT department and manage the company’s relationships with outside service providers. This role suits an IT leader who enjoys building something from the ground up in a mid-sized manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities Enterprise Project Management ERP Transition: Take ownership of the ongoing implementation and rollout of the new ERP system, transitioning from the legacy Sage 100 system. Ensure data integrity, process mapping, and smooth user adoption across all departments. Cloud Migration: Partner with external IT support providers to oversee and complete the transition to a secure, scalable cloud environment. Barcode System Integration: Lead the selection, integration, and implementation of a new barcode / WMS system to optimize inventory and production tracking. Infrastructure & New Facility Launch New Building Launch: Manage the design, installation, and deployment of all IT infrastructure (networking, Wi-Fi, hardware, cabling) for the new Huntersville facility, covering corporate offices, warehouse, and production / manufacturing areas. Relocation Cut-Over: Plan and execute the IT side of the relocation from Indian Trail, minimizing downtime for operations, production, and customers. Shop Floor IT: Ensure robust, high-uptime technology tailored to the demands of a manufacturing environment. IT Strategy & Department Growth Team Building: Develop, structure, and establish the internal IT department from the ground up, identifying future hiring needs as the company grows. Vendor Management: Supervise, evaluate, and collaborate with external IT service providers and Managed Service Providers (MSPs) to balance internal capabilities with outsourced expertise. Security & Compliance: Establish IT policies, data backup protocols, disaster recovery plans, and cybersecurity measures across all locations. Corporate Alignment: Coordinate with the HQ IT organization in Germany on standards, systems, and shared initiatives. Qualifications Required: 5+ years of experience in IT Management or as a Senior IT Project Manager, preferably in a manufacturing, distribution, or warehousing environment. Required: Proven track record of leading at least one major ERP implementation or migration from start to finish. Required: Solid understanding of network architecture, cloud infrastructure migrations, and setting up IT for new physical facilities, including production floors. Required: Experience directing external IT providers / MSPs and managing multiple high-priority project timelines simultaneously. Required: Ability to work on-site in Huntersville, NC. Preferred: Direct experience with proAlpha, or with migrating away from Sage systems. Preferred: Experience building an internal IT function or moving from a fully outsourced model to a hybrid / internal model. Preferred: Barcode / WMS implementation experience. Preferred: Experience with a German or European-owned company; German language skills are a plus. Preferred: PMP or equivalent project management certification.
