About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Java Application Developer to support the design, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance of enterprise-scale applications and system interfaces. This role will be responsible for modifying existing application code, building new application components based on detailed requirements, and ensuring solutions are scalable, reliable, and aligned with established development standards.

Responsibilities

  • Modify existing application code, interfaces, and system components based on detailed business and technical requirements.
  • Design, develop, test, debug, deploy, document, and maintain application programs and interfaces.
  • Participate in all phases of the application development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design support, coding, testing, deployment, and production support.
  • Support file design, data updates, storage, retrieval, and integration across enterprise applications.
  • Maintain developed solutions on an ongoing basis, ensuring long-term reliability and performance.
  • Formulate technical concepts, define system scope, and establish technical objectives based on user and business needs.
  • Enhance existing processes to resolve operational issues and introduce new functionality while considering timelines, resource constraints, complexity, dependencies, assumptions, and application structure.
  • Follow established development methodologies, coding standards, and internal compliance requirements.
  • Ensure application development activities align with internal and external regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with business users, technical teams, project stakeholders, and leadership to deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Provide guidance to various groups on application systems activities as needed.
  • Work under general direction and report to a team lead, supervisor, or manager.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years of application development experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, or a related field required.
  • Strong experience developing applications in large-scale enterprise environments.
  • Solid understanding of the full software development lifecycle.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
  • Able to quickly understand business concepts and contribute to technical vision and solution design.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently when needed.
  • Able to collaborate effectively within large technical and cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within financial services or captive auto finance environments is strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience guiding or mentoring technical teams is a plus.

Technical Skills

  • Intermediate to expert-level knowledge in the following areas: System development lifecycle methodologies, Software development processes and standards, Unit and integration testing methodologies, JUnit and JMock, Software configuration management tools, Code deployment and version control tools, Enterprise application development and support, Technology Experience.
  • Experience with the following technologies is preferred: UNIX / AIX, UNIX scripting, Java, J2EE, J2SE, J2ME, JavaBeans, JavaScript, Servlets, JDBC, Struts, Hibernate, WebSphere, WSAD, MQ Series, DB2, SQL, MS Access, FTP / SFTP.
