IT Infrastructure Project Manager job

The Office of Innovation & Technology (OIT) is the central IT agency for the City, overseeing major information and communications technology initiatives to enhance infrastructure, optimize services, and ensure data security and operational continuity.

About the role

IT Infrastructure Project Managers lead transformative, critical IT projects across the City, ranging from software updates to enterprise-wide, multi-million-dollar platform implementations. They analyze and document business needs, organize project teams, plan and remediate troubled projects, and ensure initiatives are executed correctly.

Responsibilities

• Develop, clarify, and manage project scope, define contract deliverables, and achieve targeted outcomes.
• Ensure project requirements are met on time and within budget.
• Assemble project teams, assign responsibilities, and develop timeframes for successful project completion.
• Determine project costs and ensure delivery within budgetary guidelines.
• Ensure compatibility and consistency with existing architectural and enterprise standards.
• Perform cost/benefit analysis of actions and initiatives.
• Schedule and document meeting minutes.
• Follow OIT Project Management practices and prescribed SDLC.
• Prepare status reports, summaries, and dashboards for mid and senior-level management.
• Provide support, coaching, and mentoring on project management best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field.
• PMP and/or equivalent Project Management Certification or Master’s Certificate in Project Management.
• 5 years of generalized Information Technology experience (may be concurrent with education).
• Minimum of 5 years of Project Management experience managing multiple, large, cross-functional teams or projects.

• Effective verbal and written communication with stakeholders and senior leadership.
• Ability to organize and work with cross-departmental project teams.
• Expertise in designing and building distributed and enterprise solutions.
• Experience planning, organizing, and directing work activities of consultants and technical staff.
• Strong presentation skills, strategic thinking, and high professional ethics.
• Knowledge of project management principles, systems delivery lifecycle, and budgeting.
• Familiarity with servers, storage, mainframes, monitoring, ITIL, metrics, disaster recovery, data center management, managed services, and cloud computing.
• Proficiency in IT project management best practices and techniques (PMBOK).

Pay

$80,000–$90,000 (salary cannot exceed $90,000).
