IT Engineer (First IT Hire)

About the Opportunity

The IT ENGINEER (FIRST IT HIRE) will own the end-to-end IT experience, including support, onboarding, device management, identity, and automation. This role is critical in shaping the organization's IT foundation and processes, directly impacting operational efficiency and employee productivity as the company scales.

Responsibilities

• Develop and refine IT strategy, evaluating and recommending IT tools and platforms
• Establish and prioritize IT function goals and processes
• Collaborate on IT standards and security policies
• Support AI tool integration into employee workflows
• Provide end-user hardware, software, networking, and account support
• Troubleshoot macOS and Windows device issues
• Serve as escalation point for complex IT problems
• Manage employee lifecycle processes including hardware procurement and account provisioning
• Administer identity and access management systems
• Maintain and secure device fleet using MDM solutions
• Design zero-touch device provisioning workflows
• Observe team workflows to identify and implement operational improvements
• Develop automation scripts and AI-enabled workflows to enhance team effectiveness
• Address root causes of recurring support issues
• Document IT processes and solutions for self-service access

Requirements

• 3–5 years of practical IT experience, preferably in fast-paced or high-growth settings
• Experience supporting macOS and Windows endpoints
• Knowledge of Google Workspace and Slack administration
• Understanding of identity and access management fundamentals including SSO and MFA
• Familiarity with MDM platforms and endpoint management
• Scripting skills in PowerShell, Bash, or Python
• Experience diagnosing remote and virtual desktop issues
• Strong empathy and communication skills
• Ownership mentality with follow-through capabilities
• Organizational skills to manage multiple priorities

Qualifications

• Experience as an early or solo IT hire building processes
• Knowledge of zero-trust security and endpoint security tools
• Networking fundamentals knowledge
• Experience leading IT projects beyond support
