IT Cybersecurity Specialist (SYSANALYSIS)

This position is in the Cyber Excepted Service under 10 USC 1599f and does not convey eligibility for conversion to the Competitive Service. It supports the mission of the US Cyber Command and is classified as Professional Work Category at the Senior Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure, located in the DISA - DBC/CYBER DEVELOPMENT DIRECTORATE.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a principal technical authority and lead specialist ensuring effective, economical, and advanced technical management of customer computing requirements for assigned systems and applications.
• Apply mastery of IT principles, concepts, methods, and practices in assigned specialty area.
• Develop, interpret, plan, and apply policy, process, procedure, and strategy in the delivery of multi-discipline IT services.
• Apply analytic skills to systems analysis concepts and techniques; structured analysis principles; life cycle management concepts and practices; cost-benefit analysis; develop system design specifications; and resolve application deficiencies.
• Employ broad, comprehensive knowledge of emerging technologies, enterprise IT architecture, customer business processes, organizational plans, and resource requirements in the accomplishment of assigned projects.
• Provide expert technical guidance, interpretation, and implementation oversight of information security policies, processes, and practices to ensure operational availability and integrity of enterprise applications, systems, networks, and data.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
• This national security position requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
• In accordance with DoD 8140 policy, complete Foundational Qualifications within 9 months and Residential Qualification requirements within 12 months.
• This is a drug-testing designated position.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must meet the following requirements:

Basic Requirements

• Attention to Detail: Experience reviewing your own information technology-related work or data and being asked by others to review their work or data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards.
• Customer Service: Experience maintaining relationships with customers, assessing current information technology needs, and developing or identifying IT products and services tailored to meet customer needs.
• Oral Communication: Experience briefing mid-level management and IT staff on the status of IT systems, projects, or daily operations, including communicating technical information to a non-technical audience.
• Problem Solving: Experience identifying alternatives to address complex IT-related issues by gathering and applying information from various sources that provide potential solutions.

Qualifying Experience

Your resume must describe at least one year of experience demonstrating the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Qualifying experience includes:

• Providing networking/computer technical guidance, interpretation, and implementation oversight of applicable information security policies, processes, and practices.
• Developing, interpreting, planning, and applying policy, process, procedure, and strategy in the delivery of multi-discipline IT services.

Volunteer experience, including work through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, community, student, social), may be credited if it demonstrates the required competencies. Candidates must describe how they meet the qualifying experience within their resume. All qualifications must be met within 30 days after the closing date of the announcement.

• If you are a current Federal Career/Career-Conditional employee, you will be placed on an Excepted appointment.
• A three-year probationary period may be required if you have not previously completed one in the excepted or competitive service.
