IT Cybersecurity Specialist

About the role

A leading federal agency dedicated to protecting Veteran data and critical information systems is undergoing a significant digital transformation. They are seeking a talented professional to enhance their cybersecurity posture and ensure the privacy and trust of Veterans and their families.

Responsibilities

• Detect and respond to exploits against targeted networks and hosts.
• Implement and manage specific cybersecurity countermeasures for systems and applications.
• Conduct security reviews, identify architectural gaps, and develop risk management plans.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve security incidents and ensure vulnerability compliance.
• Assist in prioritizing and coordinating the protection of critical cyber defense infrastructure.
• Coordinate with Cyber Defense Analysts to manage updates for security tools like intrusion detection/prevention systems and antivirus.
• Maintain situational awareness and functionality of operational infrastructure.

Requirements

• One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-12, planning and implementing network security systems.
• Experience demonstrating strong attention to detail and thoroughness in work.
• Proven customer service skills, working with diverse stakeholders to address needs and resolve problems.
• Excellent oral communication skills, including making clear and convincing presentations.
• Strong problem-solving abilities, identifying issues and generating effective solutions.
