IT Business Analyst III
About the role
The Senior Business Analyst will lead analytical and domain-driven initiatives supporting an enterprise-wide Reconciliation Platform. This platform underpins critical financial processes, including cash, position, and GL reconciliations, exception management, certification, and close activities.
Responsibilities
- Perform deep-dive data analysis using SQL and Python to investigate reconciliation breaks, data issues, and control gaps.
- Identify root causes across upstream and downstream systems, data flows, and processing layers.
- Translate complex data findings into actionable insights for business and technology stakeholders.
- Serve as a functional subject matter expert across reconciliation processes, including matching logic, exception lifecycle, and financial close alignment.
- Drive improvements in exception management, certification workflows, and operational controls.
- Partner with technology teams to define system enhancements, data models, and process optimizations.
- Apply data-driven or AI-based solutions to operational problems and translate insights into business outcomes.
- Drive the adoption of automation and AI-based process improvements to reduce manual effort and operational risk.
- Strengthen data quality, reconciliation controls, and audit readiness in partnership with Risk and Control teams.
- Act as a key liaison between business, technology, and operations teams, communicating risks and insights to senior stakeholders.
Requirements
- Functional & Domain Expertise: Experience in financial reconciliation platforms (cash, GL, position).
- Understanding of exception management, financial controls, and close processes.
- Experience working in a regulated financial services environment.
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in SQL for complex queries, performance tuning, and data validation.
- Advanced proficiency in Python for data analysis and automation.
- Experience working with large data sets, ETL pipelines, and data integration.
- Leadership & Behavioral Skills: Strong ownership mindset with the ability to work independently and drive outcomes.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical thinking capability.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to operate in complex, cross-functional environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic exposure to machine learning (ML).
- Familiarity with data visualization or Business Intelligence (BI) tools.
