Azure Systems Administrator
A Day in the Life:
- Design, deploy, and operate Azure infrastructure
- Build and maintain Azure landing zones, subscriptions, networking, and shared services
- Support migration of on-prem workloads to Azure using lift-and-shift and modernization approaches
- Manage Azure compute, storage, networking, and PaaS services
- Implement high availability, resiliency, backup, and disaster recovery strategies
Identity, Security & Governance:
- Manage and secure Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD)
- Conditional Access, Privileged Identity Management (PIM), Role-based access control (RBAC)
- Configure and maintain Microsoft Defender for Cloud & Defender for Endpoint/Identity/Office 365
- Apply Azure Policy & governance controls
- Perform security hardening and continuous posture improvement
Monitoring, Operations & Reliability:
- Monitor environments using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights
- Troubleshoot cloud infrastructure, networking, and identity-related issues
- Support patching, vulnerability management, and configuration drift remediation
- Participate in on-call rotation for cloud infrastructure support (as required)
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement:
- Work closely with Security, Networking, and Application and business teams
- Provide guidance on secure cloud design patterns
- Document architecture, standards, and operational procedures
- Evaluate and recommend new cloud-native services and tools
Qualifications
- 4–7+ years of experience in infrastructure, systems, or cloud engineering
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure in production environments
- Strong knowledge of: Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, firewalls); Identity and access management; Windows Server and/or Linux administration; PaaS services (App Services, Azure SQL, etc.); Infrastructure as Code
- Experience with cloud security concepts and shared responsibility model
- Strong troubleshooting and operational skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience migrating workloads from on-premises to Azure
- Experience with Microsoft 365 security (Defender, compliance features)
- Familiarity with Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions
- Azure certifications (AZ-104, AZ-305, AZ-500) are a plus
Pay & Benefits
The estimated annual salary range for this position is $120,000 - $160,000 USD.
