About the role
The County of Solano seeks a Principal Infrastructure Engineer to lead its enterprise infrastructure strategy, cloud adoption, technology modernization, cybersecurity architecture, and AI-enabled initiatives. This role serves as a senior technical engineer and trusted advisor to County leadership, technical teams, business stakeholders, and technology partners.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and recommend complex technical options for enterprise infrastructure, cloud platforms, identity management, Zero Trust security, networking, disaster recovery, automation, application hosting, and vendor-delivered technology solutions.
- Champion secure, resilient, scalable, and sustainable technology solutions that support critical public services.
- Educate and advise County leadership, technical teams, business stakeholders, and technology partners on technical strategies and best practices.
- Collaborate with internal and external technology partners to ensure alignment with County goals and objectives.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of policies, standards, and procedures related to enterprise infrastructure, cloud platforms, identity management, Zero Trust security, networking, disaster recovery, automation, application hosting, and vendor-delivered technology solutions.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and trends in enterprise infrastructure, cloud platforms, identity management, Zero Trust security, networking, disaster recovery, automation, application hosting, and vendor-delivered technology solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- At least 10 years of relevant work experience in enterprise infrastructure, cloud platforms, identity management, Zero Trust security, networking, disaster recovery, automation, application hosting, and vendor-delivered technology solutions.
- Proven experience leading and mentoring technical teams.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure or equivalent cloud platforms.
- Strong understanding of Zero Trust security principles and practices.
- Experience with network design and management, including disaster recovery planning and testing.
- Experience with automation tools and scripting languages.
- Experience with application hosting and deployment.
- Experience with vendor-delivered technology solutions.
Qualifications
- Proven ability to evaluate complex technical options and explain tradeoffs.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

$143,186.92 - $174,044.60 Annually

Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
