About the role

This is an in-office position located at the WoodmenLife Tower in downtown Omaha. In this role, you will enter and issue life applications into multiple computer systems. Through the entry/issue process, you will maintain computer records by accurate entry of information from the application.

  • Complete quality checks on life applications to ensure accuracy of client and policy information inputted into the multiple computer systems.
  • Apply initial remittance on new business applications using various rules as they apply to state and federal banking regulations.
  • Process incomplete, postponed, and declined applications, which includes refunding premiums and composing a letter of explanation to the member.
  • Review applications for replacement and process these following internal replacement guidelines.
  • Comply with multiple state and federal regulations to ensure that contracts produced are accurate and reflective of the pending process.

Responsibilities

  • Meet expectations for attendance and punctuality in accordance with the expectations established by your supervisor and WoodmenLife policy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
  • Work overtime as assigned by management.
  • Analyze applications recognizing completeness of application, replacement, and compliance with state regulations.
  • Review for compliance with AML, fraud detection, and WoodmenLife procedures in OKB or manual.
  • Accurately transfer and verify data from the application into the Organization’s computer systems, recognizing and updating existing records based on new information, including correcting proof of birth, SS#, name, and address on previous records held by the applicant.
  • Execute form changes to modify the plan and amount of insurance on issued cases as requested by the Sales representative, including cancellation of the old certificate and notification to the proper department.
  • Identify application form deficiencies and communicate with Sales Associate for clarification; request additional information when needed.
  • Review HIPAA forms to ensure compliance before MIB is run.
  • Analyze application and forms to correctly process split or reassigned commissions to the Sales representative’s commission account.
  • Communicate with Sales Operations regarding Sales contract issues to ensure proper commission is paid.
  • Distribute funds and perform transactions accurately that affect applicants’ and/or members’ bank accounts (PAC).
  • Follow established rules and procedures in conducting analysis and allocation of funds received, determining appropriate distribution of remittances, setting up future billings through PAC accounts, and determining refund amounts.
  • Perform accounting transactions such as applying premiums, ordering and canceling refund drafts, re-depositing checks, and backing off accounting transactions due to bad checks/express checks.
  • Process transactions for applications that are incomplete, postponed, or rejected, including interest calculations on money being refunded, and communicate with Sales Associates and applicants regarding non-issue decisions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent work experience.
  • Strong math skills and general accounting skills necessary for calculating interest, transferring monies, and researching payments.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to make independent decisions.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet established time standards and department service levels.
  • Ability to research and investigate previous system transactions and take appropriate action.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and understand information via telephone, voicemail, face-to-face, and in writing.
  • Strong PC skills, especially with Word, and the ability to work within multiple windows simultaneously.
  • Ability to adapt to constant change.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and also independently.
