About the role

Join the Barrios Technology team in Houston, Texas, as an ISS C&DH SMC Engineer. This role offers hands-on experience with flight software, spacecraft data systems, and space station operations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform architectural analysis, requirements definition, hardware and software interface definition validation and verification of requirements.
  • Prepare SMC internal Data Assessment Reports (DARs) with respect to Final Qualification Testing (FQT) for each CSCI undergoing stage transition.
  • Prepare SMC Reverification Agreement (RVA) and DAR documents with respect to ISS Stage Testing for stage verification.
  • Assist in the assessment of Software Change Requests (SCRs).
  • Support the witnessing of the Hardware Software Integration stage testing of SMC requirements.
  • Conduct system/segment level architectural analysis, subsystem design, requirements definition and verification analysis in support of changes to ISS elements/segments, avionics Orbital Replacement Unit (ORU) upgrades.
  • Validate requirements by assisting with traceability analysis; review test plans, support tests, perform analysis, document and report results to validate and verify the design.
  • Collaborate with the investigation of problems to provide engineering design disposition of discrepancies.
  • Work with the NASA customer and ISS International Partners to support resolution of data communication and interface requirements issues.

Requirements

  • BS/BA degree in related field from an accredited college or university, plus ten (10) years of experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation.
  • Applicant selected may be subject to government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lb.
  • Must have sufficient mobility to enter areas of test facilities where necessary.
  • Must be able to work in a team atmosphere.
  • Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation.
  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.

Skills

  • Software development and verification lifecycle knowledge for the International Space Station (ISS).
  • Knowledge of ISS Computer Software Configuration Items and ISS Software interfaces with the International Partners and Visiting Vehicles.
  • Ability to conduct system/segment level architectural analysis, subsystem design, requirements definition and verification analysis.
  • Ability to collaborate with the investigation of problems to provide engineering design disposition of discrepancies.
