About the role

Irrigators and Agricultural Equipment Operators/Forklift Operators are needed to perform various tasks in vegetable fields. The role includes irrigation work, maintenance, and operation of farm equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general irrigation work via drip/sprinkler systems, including installation, repair, and maintenance.
  • Operate and maintain various farm equipment for field preparation tasks such as planting, cultivating, fertilizing, and maintaining farms.
  • Drive and operate tractors to attach and adjust farm implements, ensuring proper equipment operation.
  • Conduct daily maintenance checks on tractors and drive them safely over difficult terrain.
  • Understand and operate GPS systems for efficient field management.
  • Assist in starting and stopping pumps and irrigation systems, as well as monitoring elevation in head water.
  • Perform maintenance tasks such as bird control, weeding, trash removal, and tractor driving.
  • Occasionally perform additional tasks like cleaning fields, picking up trash, and handling sprinkler pipe irrigation and maintenance.
  • Receive temporary work assignments if injured, accommodating recovery periods under medical clearance.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of driving a tractor and passing a tractor safety training.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs., perform physical labor, and work in various weather conditions.
  • Good eyesight for plant identification and harvesting, along with personal hygiene and appropriate attire.
  • Knowledge of safety equipment usage and following company instructions.
  • One month work experience as an irrigator and agricultural equipment operator.
  • Lifting up to 0 pounds frequently and using hand tools.
  • Working in conditions where skin and clothing become heavily soiled.
  • Exposure to sun, mud, dust, wind, heat, cold, and other natural elements.
  • Compliance with worker protection standards and re-entry times for pesticides and chemicals used in the fields.

Qualifications

  • Able-bodied to lift up to 60 lbs.
  • Good eyesight for plant identification and harvesting.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions, including rain, cold, high winds, etc.
  • Physical stamina for extended periods of standing and walking on uneven ground.
  • Personal hygiene and appropriate attire for outdoor work.
  • Ability to follow instructions and take safety precautions.
