Irrigation Field Manager

Storm Sprinklers · Salt Lake City, UT · 3 wk ago
Full-time

About the Role

Our Irrigation Field Manager is the “glue” of the company—the person who makes sure our technicians feel supported, our customers feel taken care of, and our work stays at a high level no matter how busy the season gets. This role is part trainer, part technician, part leader, and part vibe-setter. You’ll be in the field most of the time, doing ride-alongs, checking quality, handling tougher jobs, coaching techs, and making sure every customer experience is warm, safe, and positive. You’ll also run 1–2 jobs per day on your own depending on how busy the team is.

If you’re someone with strong irrigation knowledge who genuinely cares about people, loves helping others get better, and wants to make the world a better place in your own way—this job will feel meaningful and rewarding.

Responsibilities

A typical day might include:

  • Riding along with technicians to train them on diagnosis, wiring, valves, hydraulics, and repair techniques
  • Running your own repair jobs when the team is slammed or someone needs backup
  • Checking the quality of repairs and making sure jobs meet our standards
  • Coaching techs on communication, customer service, and problem-solving
  • Stepping into difficult customer situations and helping them feel heard and taken care of
  • Helping new apprentices learn the ropes and build confidence
  • Reviewing photos, notes, and job details in Housecall Pro
  • Supporting install crews as needed
  • Holding team members accountable while still keeping the environment safe, warm, and fun

You’re basically the person who makes sure the field runs smoothly and everyone feels supported.

Qualifications

This role is a great fit for someone who:

  • Knows irrigation well (experience matters less than actual knowledge and competence)
  • Loves people and genuinely wants to help others grow
  • Has integrity and does the right thing even when nobody is watching
  • Is warm, friendly, and works well with a younger, positive team
  • Enjoys teaching and coaching
  • Can stay calm and steady when customers are stressed
  • Isn’t afraid to get their hands dirty
  • Can dig, repair, diagnose, and step into any job when needed
  • Wants to be part of a company culture built on safety, kindness, and belonging

Requirements

  • Strong landscape irrigation knowledge (valves, wiring, hydraulics, diagnosis)
  • Experience in irrigation repair or installation required
  • Friendly, patient, and able to coach and train others
  • Comfortable communicating with customers daily
  • Able to run repair jobs independently when needed
  • Organized, dependable, and able to make decisions in the field
  • Valid driver’s license (take-home company vehicle provided)
  • Must pass a background check and drug test
  • Positive attitude and commitment to integrity and self-improvement

Tools & Equipment

We’ll provide:

  • A take-home company vehicle
  • An iPad for job notes, photos, and dispatching
  • High-quality diagnostic tools (multimeter, wire tracer, etc.)
  • Uniforms and boots
  • All necessary repair tools and equipment

You don’t need Housecall Pro experience—we’ll train you.

Benefits

  • Company trips, events, and activities (Bear Lake, Sundance, BBQs, campouts, pool parties, golf events)
  • Take-home company vehicle
  • Paid training and ongoing professional development
  • Opportunities for raises based on skill, leadership, and performance
  • Clear growth path into multi-team leadership, Operations Manager, or Area General Manager roles
  • Optional 401(k) matching and insurance benefits

Career Growth

This role is the pathway to:

  • General Manager over an area
  • Larger leadership responsibilities
  • Multi-team oversight
  • Helping shape the culture and standards of the company as we grow

We promote from within, and we’re building a company where leaders grow into long-term roles.

Skills You’ll Develop

  • Advanced irrigation diagnosis
  • Coaching and leadership
  • Customer experience management

Schedule

You’ll spend about 75% of your time in the field and 25% in the office doing paperwork, training, or follow-ups.
