About the Role
The Trade Foreman 2 supports construction activities for routine and non-routine projects, ensuring planned work is performed efficiently and effectively by the crew. This position acts as a working foreman, completing tasks personally while supervising a crew. All activities align with JE Dunn’s strategy, vision, and values.
Autonomy and Decision-Making: Makes decisions on routine matters, provides recommendations to supervisors, and refers exceptions to them.

Responsibilities
- Learns and actively participates in the company’s safety culture, demonstrating commitment to an injury-free environment through individual actions and mentoring others.
- Works with tools to complete assigned tasks on a project.
- Tracks and reports units and labor hours, including filling out and submitting timecards.
- Maintains proper care and quantity of tools and equipment to support project-specific production.
- Leads and monitors safety and security procedures within the crew.
- Understands and achieves crew production goals.
- Establishes crew sizes aligned with production goals.
- Documents key information such as activities, production, and crew sizes.
- Communicates with suppliers and coordinates delivery of supplies to the jobsite.
- Understands and maintains established quality levels for assigned duties.
- Coordinates other trade work associated with the assigned scope.
- Participates in safety activities, including toolbox talks, job hazard analysis, job site analysis, and SIMS (Site Information Management System) reporting.
- Reads and understands plans, specifications, shop drawings, and coordination drawings.
- Provides on-the-job guidance and shares subject matter expertise to support team learning and development.
- Coordinates inspections for assigned scope of work.
- Participates in, documents, and updates punch lists.
- Manages subcontractor crews for portions of projects or small projects.
- Creates, communicates, monitors, and achieves crew production goals.
- Coordinates work for larger crews and/or other trade foremen.
- Leads preplanning activities for project components, including crew size, schedule, materials, meetings, and manpower.
- Coordinates usage of all construction project resources, including internal and external support.
- Creates and implements safety plans, ensuring compliance through training, toolbox talks, and communication with safety representatives.
- Controls costs in production units by understanding multiple variables, such as project management systems, task-specific reports, and production costs.
- Supports project quality assurance/quality control planning to ensure quality for assigned tasks.
- Applies and leads Lean principles and practices on the jobsite, such as daily stand-up meetings and pull planning.
- Assists with MOC (Materials and Other Costs) and equipment analysis.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Vocational/Technical degree in a related field (preferred).
- 3+ years of commercial construction experience.
- 2+ years of field supervision experience.
Skills
- Ability to perform work accurately and completely in a timely manner.
- Intermediate verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Knowledge of organizational structure and available resources.
- Ability to apply Lean processes and philosophy.
- Knowledge of self-perform and labor productivity.
- Knowledge of specific trades and scopes of work.
- Knowledge of construction management means and methods.
- Intermediate layout skills.
- Intermediate knowledge of crane flagging and rigging.
- Ability to read and understand plans, drawings, and specifications.

- Ability to lead crews and achieve production goals.
- Ability to build relationships and collaborate within a team, both internally and externally.
Working Environment
- Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
- May require periods of travel.
- May be exposed to extreme conditions (hot or cold).
- Must be willing to work non-traditional hours to meet project needs.
- Frequent activities: Standing, walking, climbing, bending, reaching above shoulder, pushing, pulling.
- Occasional activities: Sitting, viewing computer screen.
