About the role
The DCU Institute of Future Media, Democracy and Society invites applications for a position to contribute to its research programmes. The role will involve working across a range of projects focused on media, democracy, and digital technologies, with a particular emphasis on disinformation, media pluralism, and deliberative democracy. The successful candidate will join a dynamic research environment and contribute to the Institute's growing portfolio of national and European research projects.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research across multiple projects in the areas of media and democracy, disinformation, and digital technologies
- Contribute to the design and execution of research methodologies including qualitative and quantitative approaches
- Prepare research outputs including reports, academic publications, and policy briefs
- Engage with project partners, stakeholders, and policymakers across Ireland and Europe
- Contribute to the Institute's public engagement and dissemination activities
- Support the coordination of research projects and manage project deliverables
- Collaborate with colleagues across the Institute's research themes
Requirements
- A PhD in a relevant discipline such as media studies, political science, sociology, communication studies, or a related field
- Demonstrated research experience in one or more of the Institute's core areas (disinformation, media pluralism, deliberative democracy, digital media)
- Strong publication record appropriate to career stage
- Experience in both qualitative and quantitative research methods
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative research team
Qualifications
- PhD completed (or near completion) in a relevant discipline
- Proven track record of research outputs including publications and reports
- Experience in project coordination and stakeholder engagement
Skills
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Excellent project management and organisational abilities
- Proficiency in relevant research software and tools
- Ability to communicate complex research findings to diverse audiences
- Experience with policy-relevant research and engagement
