IR Technologist - Atlantic Health Morristown Medical Center-Full Time
About the role
Responsible for performing imaging utilizing the appropriate equipment for diagnosis and treatment planning with regards to patient care. The incumbent demonstrates competency in skills necessary to care for patients served. Performs multiple types of imaging, including fluoro and X-ray, involving emergency room patients, surgical patients, inpatients, and outpatients.
Responsibilities
- Utilizes AIDET when communicating with patients to: identify patient service requirements, ensure correct exam is performed on the correct patient, and establish rapport with patients and others.
- Instructs/communicates with patient and/or patient’s family regarding the test to be performed and assesses patient’s ability to tolerate exam.
- Prepares patient or area for IR procedure by positioning patient, adjusting immobilization devices, moving equipment into specified position, and adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors.
- Protects patients and employees by adhering to safety requirements, infection-control, drug and radiation policies, protocols, and techniques.
- Works with engineers and physicists to ensure optimal operational capabilities of equipment.
- Maintains medical imaging records in appropriate system and according to department policies and standards for interpretation in a timely manner.
- Assists leadership in maintaining all required policies, procedures, standards, and records for applicable governmental, regulatory, and accrediting organizations by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations of the OSHA, TJC, TDH, and ACR.
- Other relevant duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Vocational diploma from an AMA-approved radiologic technology program.
- Six months to 1 year in the interventional field required.
- Associates degree from an AMA-approved radiologic technology program and minimum 0-3 years of experience as an Imaging Services Technologist preferred.

About The Team
Atlantic Health System's radiology departments provide state-of-the-art imaging services that accommodate a wide range of patient needs with the highest quality and safety. Many of our locations meet Image Gently® recommendations, meaning we "child-size" radiation doses for pediatric patients. Our medical team features board-certified, fellowship-trained radiologists specializing in breast imaging, cross-sectional imaging, neuroradiology, nuclear medicine, muscular-skeletal imaging, pediatric imaging, and interventional radiology.
