About the role
The Intellectual Property and Technology Pursuits & Directories Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the firm's strategic initiatives. This position works closely with and in support of the firm's Intellectual Property and Technology attorneys, focusing on developing compliant, on-time, best-in-class, and client-centric formal RFP responses and pitch responses.
Responsibilities
- Manages the pitch and proposal response lifecycle from start to finish.
- Provides strategic guidance for RFP responses, proposals, and pitches.
- Interfaces with all attorneys and staff involved in the process to best position pursuit for successful outcomes.
- Organizes and conducts proper kick-off calls.
- Determines response requirements, assigns responsibilities, and compiles and organizes information.
- Gathers critical market intelligence by conducting audience analyses, client/project needs analyses, and perception analyses.
- Conducts in-depth research to support pitch and proposal strategy, including company, industry, and competitive research, as well as litigation and docket research using analytics platforms such as Docket Navigator and Lex Machina to develop data-driven insights (e.g., case experience, judge and venue trends, and outcomes) that strengthen patent litigation and other IP pursuits.
- Identifies, creates, and updates information that differentiates DLA Piper from its competitors, including clearly articulated value propositions, win themes, and client-centric benefits.
- Creates new content as needed.
- Covers quality control and ensures on-time delivery of pitch and proposal responses.
- Maintains and continues to refine the collection of stock languages related to the firm, practice groups, and/or sectors.

Desired Skills
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Strong research and analytical skills, including the ability to gather, synthesize, and translate data into compelling, client-centric messaging.
- Familiarity with litigation analytics and docket research tools, such as Docket Navigator and Lex Machina, is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with intellectual property law is preferred, particularly patent and trademark litigation.
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects under tight deadlines.
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities, as well as solid judgment and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to recommend and implement solutions.
- Ability to maintain collaborative relationships with attorneys, staff, team members, marketing professionals, client development executives, pricing staff, and others.
Minimum Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communication, or related discipline.
- 7 years’ project/production experience to include management of RFPs in a professional services environment.
- Must have database experience and knowledge of management systems and presentation software.

Physical Demands

Work Environment
- The individual selected for this position may have the opportunity for a hybrid work arrangement comprised of remote and in-office work, the requirement for which will be determined in coordination with the hiring manager or supervisor and may be modified in the firm’s discretion in the future.
