IP Resident Engineer

About the role

We're seeking a talented and motivated IP Resident Engineer to join our team and support a key Nokia customer. In this role, you'll design and develop network architectures and services, create implementation and migration plans, document configuration equipment and services, test and support networks in various deployment stages, provide recommendations to optimize network operations and performance, and collaborate with internal technical teams to enhance product placement and features for reliability, availability, and serviceability.

Responsibilities

  • Perform critical (sometimes escalated) design and performance activities in customer projects independently, including complex problem-solving in projects and multi-vendor environments.
  • Develop, review, and make recommendations on network-wide design covering performance, spectrum, and capacity supported by recommendations (within and across the region).
  • Organize field measurements and laboratory tests.
  • Perform network audits, especially in cases where faults or problems exist.
  • Optimize networks with all components based on traffic trends and customer forecasts.
  • Support experts in developing network configuration files and interface analysis.
  • Develop network architecture and services designs with the best available architecture to support our customer's services.

Requirements

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or Computer Science, or 5+ years of equivalent practical work experience.
  • Experience with MPLS, ISIS, OSPF, Segment Routing, BGP protocols, LDP, RSVP-TE, L2/L3 VPN over MPLS, and EVPNs.
  • Experience in QoS implementation/testing; familiarity with testing tools like Spirent and IXIA.
  • Expertise in operating, troubleshooting, monitoring, and configuring IP networking protocols.
  • Knowledge of Nokia BNG deployment is highly valued.
  • Customer mindset and solid written and verbal communication skills for end-clients.
  • Experience with Nokia products (7750SR, 7250 IXR, 7705SAR, 7210 SAS, and NSP).
  • Previous multivendor experience, especially with Juniper routers.
  • Strong communication skills and willingness to learn and advance your career in both technical and non-technical expertise.
