Position Summary

The IP Litigation Paralegal position at Greenberg Traurig provides organizational and practice-specific assistance to attorneys in the IP Litigation Department, covering litigation cases from inception to post-trial, including research and analysis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assists with all aspects of patent, trademark, and other IP litigation, including deposition and discovery preparation, trial preparation, and post-trial and appellate proceedings.
  • Aids in AIA trials (inter partes reviews, post-grant reviews), managing document preparation, proofing, and filing, case management, and deposition scheduling and management.
  • Supports post-grant patent proceedings (inter partes reviews and ex parte reexaminations) before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB).
  • Creates and maintains organizational systems for case documents, document productions, and e-discovery.
  • Prepares and sets up for Markman hearings, identifies, investigates, collects, analyzes, and organizes factual evidence, and prepares for fact and expert witnesses.
  • Assists with review and selection of documentation for preparation of fact and expert witnesses, creates databases, conducts database searches, reviews, and coordinates productions and reports.
  • Coordinates and negotiates scheduling of case events such as depositions and conferences, adheres to regulatory agency or court-imposed schedules and orders.
  • Conducts legal and factual research, investigates factual issues by reviewing and analyzing documents, conducting telephone interviews, and field investigations.
  • Assists attorneys with case settlement, gathers and organizes data, and distributes settlement materials.
  • Performs other department activities as needed and additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, Certificate in Paralegal studies from an accredited institution preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • Certified Paralegal a plus; Notary Public License or willingness to obtain one.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Patent Litigation Paralegal or similar within a law firm with demonstrated knowledge of complex issues within the Litigation practice area.
  • Patent trial experience, including exhibit preparation, witness preparation and management, knowledge of subpoena preparation, experience working with judicial assistants and trial presentation vendors, and experience assisting attorneys in the courtroom.
  • Technology Experience with E-filing and litigation support applications such as Relativity, Concordance, and other 3rd-party applications.
  • Experience with the PTAB’s E2E filing system, working proficiency with Lexis-Nexis, Westlaw, and internet search engines for research purposes, Pacer and ECF filing procedures, proficiency with Windows-based software and Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Proficiency in utilizing AI tools and software.
  • Experience with iManage and/or Filesite is a plus.

Education & Prior Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, Certificate in Paralegal studies from an accredited institution preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • Certified Paralegal a plus; Notary Public License or willingness to obtain one.

Pay Range

The expected pay range for this position is $51.16 to $53.68 per hour. Salary will be determined based upon education, experience, job-related factors permitted by law, internal equity, and market data, including geographic pay differentials in locations where market pay differs from the national average.
