IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health) Managing Safely

About the Course

This IOSH course is highly practical, with lots of interactive elements and real-life case-studies of what not to do and how to make things safer. The interactive videos require participation to keep you involved and you can study when you like and as fast or as slow as you like. This course is fully approved by IOSH and you are tutored by a chartered member of IOSH with a wealth of practical real-life experience to share with you.

The course duration is 12 to 15 hours in total, and you set the pace of study.

Assessment Details

There are two assessments:

• The IOSH online test, which is made up of multiple choice questions and drag and drop, and has a 45-minute time limit and a pass mark of 60%.
• The IOSH practical project (a risk assessment), which must be submitted within 2 weeks of passing the IOSH online test, and usually takes about 20 to 30 minutes to complete with a pass mark of 60%.

Both assessments can be attempted 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and there is no requirement to register in advance.

The course covers the following modules:

• Module 1: Introducing Managing Safely – Why should we manage safely?
• Module 2: Risk assessment
• Module 3: Controlling risk
• Module 4: Health and safety law and management systems
• Module 5: Hazards, risks, and controls, including 20 types of hazards such as fire, noise, machines, vehicles, work at height, slips/trips, manual handling, etc.
• Module 6: Incident Investigation
• Module 7: Measuring health and safety performance
