iOS Mobile Developer

About the Role

Develop a real-time, on-device speech translation application for iPhones, integrating audio capture, speech recognition, translation, and text-to-speech. Own the iOS application's architecture, performance, memory management, and production releases. Integrate on-device machine learning inference frameworks (e.g., Core ML, ONNX Runtime) and manage their lifecycle. Implement and optimize the real-time audio pipeline using AVAudioEngine and manage background model delivery. Build peer-to-peer device communication for transcript sharing via MultipeerConnectivity. Ensure robust Swift concurrency across all components, avoiding data races, deadlocks, and memory issues on hardware-constrained devices.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience shipping production iOS applications using Swift.
• Direct experience with AVAudioEngine or AudioUnit at a low-level hardware callback level.
• Proven track record of integrating ML or signal-processing frameworks into iOS apps (e.g., Core ML, ONNX, TensorFlow Lite).
• Proficiency in memory and performance management on constrained devices using tools like Instruments.
• Experience with background URLSession and building resilient download/upload systems.
• Comfort with protocol-oriented architecture, multi-module Swift packages, and testable service layers.
• Ability to obtain and hold a federal security clearance, with experience in federal compliance environments being a plus.
