About the role

Performs highly responsible administrative work as an assistant to the Deputy Director involving confidential and sensitive Department policies and programs; Organizes and coordinates the activities of the Investor Education Program; Creates content for both live and virtual investor education presentations, brochures and other written communication as well as social media posts; Coordinates, compiles and reports statistics to the Deputy Director regarding number of presentations made and constituents that participated; Identifies and contacts a variety of community organizations for possible investor education presentations; Presents both live and virtual investor education programs throughout the state; Coordinates with state legislative staff when making live investor education presentations in that district; Conducts and coordinates research, prepares memoranda and confidential reports and makes recommendations as to Policy and Programs; Receives and fulfills requests made to the Department for investor education presentations; serves as a department liaison with other departments, agencies and organizations. Maintains confidential records for the Securities Department. Reviews and distributes material to and from Chicago office.

Responsibilities

  • Performs highly responsible administrative and confidential work; organizes and coordinates the activities of the Investor Education Program; creates content for both live and virtual investor education presentations, brochures, and other written communication as well as social media posts; performs a variety of administrative work in the development and implementation of policies, procedures and programs for the Department; coordinates, compiles and reports statistics to the Deputy Director regarding number of presentations made and constituents that participated.
  • Identifies and contacts a variety of community organizations for possible investor education presentations; presents both live and virtual investor education programs throughout the state; coordinates with state legislative staff when making live investor education presentations in that district; Receives and fulfills requests made to the Department for investor education presentations; prepares memoranda and confidential reports on designated assignments and makes recommendations.
  • Serves as a liaison for the Deputy Director with other Secretary of State Departments, outside organizations and other government agencies dealing with confidential details on disposition of securities cases and the Investor Education Program. Organizes and coordinates Investor Education Seminars with other agencies, businesses and individuals throughout the State; drafts speeches as needed for the Deputy Director and may speak before interested groups to explain Department policies and activities; maintains Investor Education Program materials; revising as needed, Department brochures and video.
  • Conducts and coordinates research, prepares memoranda and confidential reports for the Deputy Director and makes recommendations as to Policy and Programs; Handles confidential sensitive and controversial matters affecting major program areas by ensuring compliance with Personnel Rules, union contract and pay plan; reviews and distributes material to and from Chicago.

Requirements

  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to the completion of four (4) years of college, preferably with courses in public or business administration AND three (3) years of professional experience in a public or private organization. Two years' experience with financial investing and/or securities law is required.

Qualifications

  • Requires a willingness to travel and possession of a valid Illinois driver’s license.

  • Knowledge of public or business administration.
  • Proficiency in creating content for investor education presentations, brochures, and social media.
  • Ability to coordinate and compile statistics.
  • Experience with financial investing and/or securities law.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive matters.

Pay

Range $68,844 to $80,000 annually – commensurate with experience
