This role is based in Columbus, OH (One Nationwide Plaza) and requires the hired associate to reside within 35 miles of this location. Work schedule: 3 days in office, 2 days remote. This role does not qualify for employer-sponsored work authorization.

About the role

Nationwide Investments employs a research-driven, team-oriented, and results-focused investment process to manage our clients’ portfolios. Credit Research is one of three critical functions in the investment process, alongside Portfolio Management and Trading. As an Investment Professional on our Investment Grade Credit Research team, you will identify, analyze, and recommend investments within the Investment Grade bond market. You will also drive and monitor investment strategies in assigned sectors and understand broader investment markets. As a potential people leader, you may oversee team performance and manage individual associates.

Responsibilities

  • Perform research and analysis to support the team’s investment decision-making process, demonstrating independence on day-to-day tasks and contributing to investment strategy development within assigned sectors.
  • Cover investments with higher complexity, requiring advanced understanding of credit markets.
  • Identify innovative solutions and make decisions impacting the function or investment portfolio, with guidance on complex judgments.
  • Analyze risk and return drivers, develop forward-looking scenarios, model relative value, and provide investment recommendations for assigned sectors.
  • Communicate analysis and investment theses through written reports, presentations, conversations, and market meetings.
  • Evaluate changes in economic, regulatory, legislative, and competitive environments affecting investment fundamentals, valuations, and portfolio positioning.
  • Build relationships with internal and external partners to facilitate investment opportunity analysis.
  • Collaborate with other Nationwide Investment groups to advance clients’ best interests.
  • May lead a small team of Investment Analysts or serve as a people leader within the asset class.
  • Perform other assigned responsibilities as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree; MBA or CFA preferred.
  • 6 to 10 years of related investment experience.
  • Proficient in Excel; Bloomberg experience is a plus.
  • Leadership potential or current capability as a team leader.
  • Advanced understanding of Credit Research tools and processes.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present analysis clearly.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and process-driven.
  • Results-driven, self-motivated, and intellectually inquisitive.
  • Analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies, and experiences, may take precedence. Staffing exceptions require approval from the hiring manager’s leader and HR Business Partner.

Pay

Nationwide uses a geographic-specific salary structure. Placement within the starting salary range will depend on skills, education, training, credentials, experience, scope and complexity of the role, location, and market labor costs. The national salary range for this role is $119,000–$199,000.

Schedule

3 days in office, 2 days remote.
