Responsibilities
- Deliver rigorous, decision-grade research and analytical support for investors, fund managers, and deal sponsors across private market transactions.
- Operate as independent contractors and be activated through a certification, verification, and approval process.
- Engage in various tasks based on certification approvals:
- Investment Research & Analysis
- Industry and sector research
- Market sizing and competitive landscape analysis
- Company-level research and business model assessment
- Thesis development and investment rationale support
- Return, risk, and sensitivity analysis
- Financial Modeling & Valuation
- 3-statement operating models
- DCF and LBO models
- Commercial real estate underwriting
- Comparable company and precedent transaction analysis
- Football field valuation summaries
- Due Diligence & Investment Support
- Quality of Earnings (QoE) support
- Commercial, financial, and operational diligence
- Risk identification and downside analysis
- Investment memo, IC deck, and research note support
Requirements
To qualify as an Investment Research Analyst, you must meet at least one of the following:
- Score ≥70% in at least one category of the Analyst Certification Assessment
- Complete Initio Sphere Financial Training
- Hold an active professional credential (CFA, CPA, Series 7, 63, 79, or equivalent)
Qualifications
Typical backgrounds include:
- Former investment banking, private equity, venture capital, asset management, or senior consulting professionals with 5+ years of research or transaction experience
- Finance professionals with 3–5 years of investment research, modeling, or diligence experience
- Entry to mid-level analysts with strong analytical and research skills
Skills
Strong analytical and research skills are essential.
