Investment Ops Analyst
Contract-to-hire position with a major financial firm based in Newark, NJ. Hybrid schedule: 3 days per week in office.
About the role
You will be responsible for validating portfolio and transaction-level activity, including trades, income payments, corporate actions, and deal restructurings in subledger systems. The role involves preparing and verifying general ledger entries, completing reconciliations to custody banks, trade systems, and financial statements, as well as providing various reports to business partners.
Our accounting teams provide recordkeeping, accounting, and reporting for investment portfolios supporting the Insurance Companies. Additionally, we support all investment data for the Chief Investment Officer and the Chief Risk Officer. This role resides within the Alternative Assets Accounting team, which supports investment accounting and reporting for alternative investments.
Responsibilities
- Collection of documents
- Review of financial statements of Limited Partnerships/Joint Ventures
- Processing cash transactions
- Timely and accurate review of accounting entries and ledger reconciliation
- Processing equity pick-up/losses
- Ensuring cash is properly reflected in the ledger and aligns with bank cash activity
- Supporting ad hoc projects
- Monitoring data integrity
- Participating in various analyses and special projects
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field
- Accounting, research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Working knowledge of MS Office, including Excel and Word
- Ability to understand and analyze accounting principles and financial statements
- Ability to organize and prioritize tasks in a deadline-driven and fast-paced environment
- Private Equity experience (a plus)
- Familiarity with financial accounting systems (e.g., Oracle ledger, Investran, PAM) (a plus)
Pay
$30–$42 per hour, depending on experience.
