About the role
Initio Sphere is onboarding Investment Operations Mentors to support fund managers, sponsors, and investment teams with operational strategy, fund mechanics, and execution discipline across the investment lifecycle. This is not a traditional employment role. Mentors operate as independent contractors, activated through a selective verification and approval process.
Responsibilities
- Advise fund managers on operational infrastructure, controls, and workflows
- Serve as a sounding board for operational readiness, service provider coordination, and governance design during fund launches
- Guide post-investment processes including reporting, monitoring, and portfolio reviews
- Aid sponsors with operational diligence, integration planning, and execution oversight
- Mentor analysts and deal scouts on fund mechanics, reporting standards, and operational best practices
- Provide insights on scalability, compliance readiness, and institutional expectations
Requirements
- Demonstrated operational experience and institutional-grade judgment
- Experience running funds, managing portfolios, or building institutional operating systems
- Focus on operational leadership, oversight, and mentorship
Qualifications
- Former or current fund COOs, CFOs, or senior operations leaders
- Senior PE, VC, private credit, or real asset operations professionals
- Experienced operators who have managed portfolio oversight and reporting
- Advisors who can mentor analysts on institutional operations and execution
Benefits
- Hourly rates: $200–$500, based on experience, scope, and operational complexity
- Transaction-based incentives available for advisory tied to successful closes or milestones
- Payments issued upon completion of advisory milestones or fund events
- No cap on earning potential for consistent, high-value operational contributions
