Job Description and Duties

Act as a key collaboration partner in the multiyear data and technology modernization strategic initiative.
Direct, manage, and lead InvOps through a multiyear transformation agenda to enable Total Portfolio Approach outcomes including modernization of operating models, investment data, technology platforms, governance, and business processes.
Collaborate with the Chief Operating Investment Officer and Investment Office leadership to design, implement, and continuously evolve a future-state operation model that aligns investment strategy, technology, controls, and operational capabilities to achieve investment outcomes.
Perform oversight of the end-to-end investment operating model, ensuring the integrity, timeliness, resilience, and continuous improvement of InvOps, including trade lifecycle execution, settlement processing, cash movement activities, portfolio support functions, and operational readiness.

Additional Documents

This position is eligible for annual and long-term incentive awards. The annual incentive opportunity is 0-120% of salary and is based on the level of achievement against several quantitative and qualitative measures. The long-term incentive program provides an additional opportunity of 0-120% of base salary beginning after five years and when absolute total fund returns meet or exceed board-approved thresholds.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Post Graduate educational achievement in the investment, finance, business administration or accounting fields.
  • Chartered Financial Analysis (CFA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Financial Risk Manager (FRM), or equivalent professional designation.
  • Ability to operate in a team and collaborative driven environment is a key aspect underlying success at CalPERS.
  • A high degree of initiative, professionalism, confidentiality, and able to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Be flexible in adapting to changes in priorities, assignments, and other interruptions which may impact pre-established timelines and courses of action.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
