About the role

The role of Investment Manager is to originate, assess, and manage litigation assets. Responsibilities include conducting comprehensive case assessments, collaborating with legal experts to gauge the merits and risks of each case, conducting financial analyses to determine economic viability and potential returns on investment, negotiating and structuring funding agreements, and ensuring compliance with investment budgets. This role demands continuous monitoring of legal landscapes, collaborative efforts with legal teams, and effective communication of investment decisions to internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Undertaking business, legal, and/or financial analysis of relevant markets, market conditions, or other issues as directed
  • Conducting due diligence on prospective funding opportunities (including analyzing financial and legal issues, communicating directly with claimants and their counsel, and conducting factual investigations), preparing and negotiating term sheets
  • Providing recommendations as to the appropriateness of funding matters and preparing and presenting submissions to the Investment Committee
  • Managing funded cases by maintaining client and lawyer communications, monitoring case progress and developments, conferring on strategic issues, considering settlement issues, and managing litigation fees and expenses
  • Performing marketing activities including meeting and speaking with lawyers/law firms, in-house corporate counsel, and other prospective work sources, presenting at conferences/seminars/meetings, writing blogs and articles for publication, and speaking with the media where necessary
  • Liaising with industry and other stakeholders as required

Requirements

  • A J.D. and 4-10 or more years of litigation experience
  • Superior academic credentials
  • High-level litigation and analytical skills with trial experience desirable
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Good public speaking skills and experience
  • Marketing or business development experience
  • Strong financial and business acumen
  • The ability to be self-motivated, results-driven, and thorough

Qualifications

Required qualifications include:

  • A J.D. and 4-10 or more years of litigation experience
