Investment & Corporate Banking – Energy - Oil & Gas and Energy Infrastructure, Experienced Investment Banking Associate (Houston, TX)
About the role
The Energy Group at Mizuho’s Banking Division seeks a Houston-based investment banking Associate with prior investment banking or similar professional experience within the upstream, midstream, downstream and/or energy infrastructure industry. Some technical upstream or midstream and LNG experience is required.
Responsibilities
- Conduct extensive quantitative economic, industry and company research and analysis
- Conduct and model a broad range of corporate finance alternatives and due diligence for client transactions including M&A, strategic alternatives, capital structure development and acquisition finance
- Evaluate risk/return parameters of transactions
- Financial modeling, valuation, comparable & relative value analyses and market-specific analysis
- Facilitate and coordinate product group idea generation and solutions development across a broad platform of global capabilities
- Draft client pitches and marketing materials including M&A, , public/private debt & equity capital markets, and other internal documentation by coordinating internal and external resources
- Assist in financing structuring, underwriting transaction evaluation, preparation, due diligence and execution
- Assist in the development and continued cultivation of client relationships
- Assist in the development and teaching of Analysts within the Energy Group
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics
- At least three years of prior investment banking or similar professional experience focused on the oil and gas industry is required; some upstream, midstream and infrastructure technical experience is required
- Knowledge of corporate finance, securities, financial markets and risk & pricing analysis
- Aptitude to synthesize large amounts of information and develop innovative ideas and/or product solutions
- Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Able to work under pressure and adhere to tight deadlines
- Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to convey ideas
- Creativity and intellectual curiosity
- Able to work independently and must be able to work effectively in a team environment

Benefits
The expected base salary ranges from $175K - $225k. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications and licenses obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
