Citigroup Global Markets Inc. seeks an Investment Banking Senior Associate for its New York, New York location.

About the role

A telecommuting/hybrid work schedule may be permitted within a commutable distance from the worksite, in accordance with Citi policies and protocols. Up to 5% international and domestic travel required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop various types of financial models to value debt and equity for mergers, acquisitions, and capital raising transactions.
  • Perform various valuation methods: comparable companies, precedents, and discounted cashflow.
  • Develop recommendations for product offerings, private equity transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and valuations.
  • Prepare and review materials used in the financing of clients, including investment memoranda, management presentations, and pitchbooks.
  • Perform due diligence, research, analysis, and documentation of live transactions.
  • Develop relationships with new and existing clients to identify new business opportunities and expand the business.
  • Assist in client meetings to support senior bankers in understanding clients’ needs and providing meaningful recommendations.
  • Prepare marketing materials incorporating strong analytical content to support senior bankers’ ideas and recommendations.
  • Assist senior bankers in preparing plans for developing business with clients by matching the bank’s product offerings with clients’ needs.
  • Read and utilize information in corporate financial statements and understand the economic essence of complex business transactions.
  • Analyze companies’ accounting policies for transactions and determine their impact on primary financial statements.
  • Understand how taxes impact the structure and value of deals.
  • Provide recommendations reflecting the underlying economics of transactions using accounting, economics, finance, and strategy lenses.
  • Consider current economic variables to assess their impact on the business cycle of analyzed companies.
  • Evaluate research reports to combine results with clients’ management views for effective strategy and business plan recommendations.
  • Understand practical realities behind organizational decision-making through client meetings and conversations.
  • Apply microeconomic tools to analyze competitive decision-making.

Requirements

Requires a Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field and 3 years of experience as a Manager, Associate, Senior Associate, or related position performing financial analysis and due diligence in connection with M&A, capital raising transactions, company and securities valuation for a financial services or professional services institution. Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree in the stated fields and 5 years of progressively responsible, post-baccalaureate experience is acceptable.

Full span of experience must include:

  • Analyzing historical financial statements to evaluate financial metrics including operating performance, profitability, working capital, and cash flow generation.
  • Valuation methods including comparable companies, precedents, discounted cashflow, and weighted average cost of capital (WACC) estimation.
  • Assessing macroeconomic variables, industry trends, and research reports to evaluate market conditions, competitive dynamics, and company performance in Industrials and related sectors.
  • Reviewing accounting policies and performing financial due diligence including evaluation of quality of earnings, normalized EBITDA, EBITDA adjustments, and non-recurring items for valuation and transaction purposes.
  • Client relationship management and supporting transaction execution in connection with mergers and acquisitions and other strategic advisory assignments.
  • Equity and Capital Markets transactions including preparation of investor-facing and transaction-related materials and analysis for financing and execution processes.

Pay

Wage Range: $200,000 to $225,000. In addition to salary, Citi’s offerings may include, for eligible employees, discretionary and formulaic incentive and retention awards.
