About the role

The primary purpose of this position is to support the day-to-day investment and administrative activities of the Diversifying Strategies Portfolio. This includes receiving and reviewing investment presentations, conducting due diligence, assembling investment memorandums, and assisting with portfolio analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Receives and reviews investment presentations, takes frequent meetings with prospective general partners and their agents.
  • Identifies proposed investments’ unique risk and return attributes, evaluates them against other opportunities, assesses general partner track records, and evaluates all other terms and conditions.
  • Assists in the assembly of due diligence investment memorandums.
  • Attends industry conferences and performs on-site due diligence visits with Investment Officers.
  • Gathers and utilizes data on current trends in Diversifying Strategies and measurable economic influences pertinent to investments.
  • Researches topics including alignment of interests, partnership conditions and terms, and developing a performance analysis framework.
  • Aids Investment Officers with research supporting the Program's strategic direction.
  • Analyzes portfolio performance, diversification, and liquidity, and produces reports to ensure compliance with investment guidelines.
  • Builds and maintains an "investment partnerships of interest" pipeline to aid in portfolio construction decisions.
  • Builds and maintains investment strategy competitive landscapes.
  • Provides general support to Investment Officers for ad hoc tasks and requests.
  • Tracks and maintains investment meetings database.
  • Works with relevant legal staff to help coordinate investment closings.

Requirements

This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Finance, or equivalent experience, with six years of professional experience in a similar analytical, operational, or project management role. Alternatively, a valid certification as a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and five years of experience, or a combination of experience and education equivalent to nine years of experience supporting the knowledge and skills for the classification, is required. A Master’s Degree in Business or Finance will substitute for one year of the required experience.

  • Experience in the institutional investment industry, including roles as investment consultants, asset managers, pension, endowment, foundation, etc., with progression and increasing responsibility.
  • Familiarity with diversifying strategies investments.
  • Experience with portfolio construction and risk management concepts.
  • Experience with investment programs such as eVestment, Factset, Bloomberg, and sophisticated Excel spreadsheets.
  • Experience writing due diligence reports and creating investment-related presentations.
  • Pursuit of CFA/CAIA designations or relevant advanced degrees is a plus.

Skills

Pay

$86,964 - $133,680 annually.

Schedule

This position offers a hybrid (remote and in-office) work location schedule; in-office work will be predominantly from Treasury’s Tigard office. Employees are expected to be in the office more than once per week for onboarding, learning, and collaboration.
