RemoteRemotePublic Relations$30–$39/hrFull-time

Simply Wall St has evolved from a research platform to a Portfolio Command Center, fundamentally changing our product and brand to serve as the ultimate control room for stock investors. Our Editorial team brings this vision to life, focusing on judgment, original framing, and thought leadership that helps everyday investors understand what market events truly mean. We're hiring a writer in a US-aligned time zone to enhance our coverage with a direct US voice and improve our response time to key US events, earnings, and reader questions. This role is open to candidates in the United States, Canada, or Latin America.

The core of this role is timely depth. You’ll need the breadth to write credibly across industries and markets, the speed to be early on stories, and the research discipline to make readers feel genuinely informed. Your work will help investors identify opportunities ahead of the curve. Additionally, you’ll bring a commercial instinct, crafting copy that motivates action without compromising trust. This is a fully remote, full-time role structured as an independent contractor, reporting to the Senior Investment Editor.

Responsibilities

  • Find and frame the story
    • Gather information on newsworthy US and global topics for coverage across the Editorial team.
    • Craft original, often contrarian ideas that distinguish Simply Wall St from mainstream financial news.
  • Deliver with speed on US markets
    • Respond quickly to US market events, earnings, and time-sensitive matters during US hours, producing researched, useful coverage rather than rushed reactions.
    • Act as our on-hours US voice, ensuring we’re early and credible on stories that matter to a US audience.
  • Write across formats
    • Write articles for Editorial or B2B, covering investing insights, company and economic news, financial products, and more.
    • Contribute across multiple formats, including The Foxhole, Market Insights, bespoke articles, and emails.
    • Publish, on average, one Market Insights article every three weeks, alongside a steady flow of other timely pieces.
    • Incorporate Simply Wall St community assets, such as Narratives and Company Reports, to add insight and link naturally back to the platform.
  • Optimize for reach without losing voice
    • Optimize content using best SEO and GEO practices to maximize impressions, clicks, click-through rate, and registrations while maintaining a human voice and personal brand.
  • Creative copy that converts
    • Treat writing as purpose-driven work, aligning content with business goals (e.g., registrations, engagement) while preserving reader trust.
    • Produce high-converting copy across the business, including campaign, product, partner, and brand work.
    • Avoid hype or promissory language while driving action.
    • Support the Senior Investment Editor directly with content initiatives and production, and collaborate flexibly with other teams as needed.

Requirements

  • Your knowledge base
    • 3 to 5+ years of experience writing about markets, investing, or finance, ideally for a consumer or investor audience.
    • Deep US market fluency: you follow the US news cycle closely, understand earnings season, and know what moves US stocks.
    • Experience as a stock investor, with a strong grasp of fundamental analysis, portfolio management, and long-term investor mindset.
    • Broad knowledge across industries and markets, with the ability to research deeply and quickly.
    • Excellent written English, with a human, personal voice that resonates with everyday investors.
    • Comfortable using AI tools to research and produce faster without losing your unique voice.
  • Your skill set
    • A strong, fast writer who can turn developing stories into well-researched, useful pieces on deadline.
    • A talent for finding original, often contrarian angles that stand out from mainstream coverage.
    • Able to translate complex investing ideas into accessible, engaging prose that informs rather than prescribes.
    • Solid SEO and GEO literacy, without sacrificing reader experience for algorithmic optimization.
    • Self-editing and reliable, able to manage your own pipeline with light oversight.
    • Skilled at crafting conversion copywriting that feels natural within the content.
  • Your attributes
    • Reliable and timely: you deliver on schedule and can move quickly when needed.
    • A hustle mentality: proactive, self-directed, and motivated by the value your work creates.
    • Genuinely curious about markets and investing.
    • Not driven by vanity metrics; focused on reader value and registrations.
    • Comfortable working remotely, mostly asynchronously, as part of a globally distributed team.

Pay

$30–$39 USD per hour (independent contractor). Where you land in this range depends on your experience and what you bring to the role.

Benefits

  • Flexible remote work: Work where you're most productive.
  • Share Club: Cash to invest, a free Simply Wall St subscription, and regular sessions to discuss stocks with the team.
  • L&D fund: We invest in your professional growth.
  • Team events & hackathons: Opportunities to collaborate and innovate with the team.
