About the role
The Department of Justice enforces Federal criminal laws to protect life, liberty, and the property of citizens. You will join a dedicated team enforcing these laws through complex investigations and financial examinations.
Responsibilities
- Work with assigned attorneys to determine applicable statutory and regulatory law and identify possible violations or causes of action.
- Conduct extensive searches of files, records, and regulatory processes to find or obtain evidence for prosecution.
- Create documents and physical evidence, and compile charts, graphs, videotapes, and other audio-visual materials for use in motions and at trial.
- Handle cases as a lead investigator, dealing with obscure leads, uncooperative witnesses, and conflicting evidence.
- Examine books, ledgers, payrolls, cost reports, billing transactions, and events or allegations under investigation.
- Prepare interim and final reports on the progress of investigations for use by attorneys.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
- Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication, including fingerprint, credit, and tax checks, and drug testing.
- Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation.
- Must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable.
- May be required to complete a one-year probationary period.
- Must meet all qualification requirements upon the closing date of this announcement.
- An USA Hire assessment is required.
Qualifications
- To qualify at the GS-12 level, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level, as defined above.
